Welcome to the CAP 2024 Elder and Youth Summit, Walking Together: Creating a Pathway Forward!

 

This is an invitation-only event co-hosted by the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples' National Elders Council (NEC) and National Youth Council (NYC) on the unceded territories of the Algonquin Anishinaabe People.

 

During this event, Elders and youth will have the opportunity to learn from one another, guest speakers, and are encouraged to engage in meaningful discussions that aim to strengthen our communities and create a pathway forward from the COVID-19 Pandemic.

We will be visiting The Native Women's Association of Canada building on February 7th and 8th, 2024.

Here, we will engage in 2 full days of programming to discuss COVID-19, Mental Health, Policy Priorities and Government Relations.

The Chelsea Resiliency Lodge

We will be visiting the NWAC Resiliency Lodge on February 6th, 2024 for a workshop of your choice and other enjoyable activities.
 

What to bring: Bathing suit, indoor footwear.

Travel Information

Following registration, all delegates will be contacted to arrange travel.

 

Expenses related to your travel and accommodations will be provided by CAP, including meals, incidentals, mileage (if applicable).  Please remember to keep all receipts that are related to your travel. Without a receipt, we cannot provide reimbursement.

Air Travel

  • If you are travelling by air, CAP will contact you to arrange your flight and provide all necessary information.
     

  • If you choose to check a bag, we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to bring all medication, valuables, and other necessary items in your carry-on luggage.

Personal Vehicle

  • Mileage for travel to and from your local airport will be reimbursed using Treasury Board Guidelines.
     

  • If you chose to drive, you will be reimbursed using Treasury Board Guidelines.  This reimburses the traveler per KM up to the equivalent of an economy class airline ticket.
     

  • Meals will be calculated the same as flying.
     

  • Parking available onsite at Homewood Suites.

Taxi

  • If you travel to and from your local airport by taxi, please submit your receipt(s) to CAP for reimbursement.
     

  • Taxi chits will be available at the Homewood Suites (front desk) for Taxi travel to and from the Ottawa Airport.

Travel Cancellation: Should you not be able to attend, we ask that you inform us immediately so that flights and accommodation can be adjusted.
